Audvis Setup Mac OSX

ECOSYSTEM research · Blender

AudVis is a Blender add on for audio visualization. On macOS the setup has three parts: install the add on, install its Python packages from inside Blender, and route system audio if you want the Realtime Analyzer. This is based on the repo's README and its packages install.md and realtime.md docs.

One caveat first: the author says the macOS instructions were only tested on a mid 2012 MacBook Air, so Apple Silicon behavior isn't documented. If something breaks, the repo's Issues tab is the place to report it.

1. Install the add on

1. Download the latest zip from the repo's Releases page. Don't unzip it.

2. In Blender, go to Edit → Preferences → Add ons. Use the dropdown in the top right and choose Install from Disk (older Blender versions have an Install button instead).

3. Pick the zip and enable AudVis. I haven't checked the release contents. The repo includes a blender manifest.toml , so newer Blender versions should accept it as an extension.

2. Install the Python packages

You only need this for the Realtime Analyzer, MIDI File, MIDI Realtime, or Video Capture. Everything is done by clicking the "Install python packages" button in any of those panels, which opens a window with the installation log. Watch the log for a "FINISHED!" line at the end.
